Marra's 17 Points Leads Molloy past NYIT

Led by sophomore Christina Marra , who scored a game high 17 points , the Molloy Lions defeated the NYIT Bears 77-60 at Recreation Hall on the campus of NYIT. With the win Molloy improves to 6-8 in ECC play. Sophomore guard Courtney Dolnick also added 13 points for the Lions in the victory.
This was the first time the Lions have won two games in a row this season, “Winning two in a row is an awesome feeling. We need to keep this momentum going to be successful this season.” Marra said, “The team morale is definitely on the rise, which is very important. Hopefully this marks the turning point in the season.”
NYIT started the game on a 12-4 run, The Lions would respond with a 19-5 run to open a  25-17 lead. NYIT Freshman Alexandra Venuto hit a three to end the Lion run . But the Lions would respond with a 14-2 run to open up a 39-22 lead. At the Half they lead 39-28.
The Bears went on a 13-0 run early in the second half to cut the Molloy lead to one, 44-43. Molloy would respond with a 7-1 run to open up a 50-44 lead. They kept a six point lead until they ended the game on a 11-0 run to secure the victory.
Graduate forward Delmara Reece had 9 points and 15 rebounds for the Lions in the win, “It feels great winning two in a row because it was the first time we've done it since the season started, Reece said, “After losing to Dowling honestly it was like an eye opener because we all know the season is coming to an end and it’s basically a fight every game to make playoffs. Coaches’ words were if we want to make playoffs we will go 3-0 this week and so far so good this Saturday against queens will be another big game for us.”
The Lions also shot 21 for 23 from the foul line which was big for them because they have struggled from the line in the past couple games .
The Lions look to build on their winning streak Saturday when they take on Queens College.
